There are at least 40 species of dolphin but there is some argument about whether some species are subspecies of another. Also very little is known about most of these species. Population estimates range from several million (and no more accurate than that) for some species such as the common dolphin, Delphinus delphis, to as few as 50 for the Yangtze river dolphin, Lipotes vexillifer. most of these dolphins don't familiar to people like me and you because many live in very remote parts of the ocean and some are very hard to find. There are very low numbers of dolphins left like:
>The Common dolphin has only 179,000 in the world
>The Striped dolphin has only 485,000 in the world
>The Spotted dolphin has only 782,000 in the world
>The Spinner dolphin has only 582,000 in the world
There are so many more different species but they are almost extinct and if i listed them all then one it would take a while but 2 it's upsetting because most of the dolphin species that i would list would not have a number next to them.
